Spain's Globomedia Joins Euro Newen Network
Spain's leading television producer joins the European web of creative formats launched by France's Newen production house.
MADRID -- Spain's leading television producer Globomedia announced Tuesday it has joined Newen Network, the European web of creative formats launched by France's Newen production house.
The network allows its members access to television formats and is intended to unite Europe's independent players and facilitate the subsequent sale of formats beyond national borders -- as well as the acquisition of cutting-edge programs for the respective domestic markets.
"Our accord with Globomedia marks a new stage in our international development of Newen," Newen president Fabrice Larue said. "With Newen Network, members will have access to the best formats of each one. These privileged agreements offer greater opportunities of growth abroad."
Globomedia, part of the Imagina group -- an empire that leads Spanish television production, controls free-to-air channel La Sexta and includes Barcelona-based powerhouse Mediapro.
"In the highly competitive global market, this alliance with an important French production group allows us to strengthen our position as one of the main international producers and sellers of formats," Globomedia president Daniel Ecija said.
