'Sparkle' Soundtrack Featuring Whitney Houston's Final Recording Set for July Release (Audio)
The 13-track album also includes songs from the film's stars Jordin Sparks and Cee Lo Green.
Motown-era fans won’t have to wait until the Aug 17 release of Sparkle to hear the music. The motion picture soundtrack will be released on July 31 via RCA records.
The film stars the late Whitney Houston as the mother of three daughters in a singing group—one of whom is Sparkle, the title character (Jordin Sparks). Sparkle, which finished filming November 2011, was expected to mark a career resurgence for Houston, who was found dead nearly three months later on February 11. The late singer had accidentally drowned in her bathtub; cocaine and heart disease were reported to be contributing factors.

Executive producer, Howard Rosenman, says of the iconic singer, “This would have been a big, big comeback, she is so brilliant in it.”
The remake of the 1976 film of the same name also stars Mike Epps, Omari Hardwick, and Cee Lo Green.
The film's 13-track soundtrack includes the final recorded performances from Houston. The album will also feature songs from the original film including “I’m a Man,” “Hooked on Your Love,” “Look Into Your Heart,” among others.
