SPC picks up N.A. rights to 'Skin'

Pedro Almodovar film began production last month in Spain

Sony Picture Classics has picked up the North American rights to Pedro Almodovar's currently in-production gothic thriller "The Skin That I Inhabit" ("La piel que habito").

The picture stars Antonio Banderas, Elena Anaya and Marisa Paredes and began production in Spain in August.

The story centers on a father avenging his daughter's death. The film is inspired by the novel "Mygale" by Thierry Jonquet.

Almodavar's brother Agustin is producing via the duo's production shingle, El Deseo. SPC and Deseo have a two-decade relationship and have partnered on nine previous films, including "Volver," "Talk to Her" and "Broken Embraces."
