'Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark' Earns $2.1M for the Week, Setting Foxwoods Theatre Record
The news comes a few weeks after original director Julie Taymor filed a blockbuster lawsuit claiming the production has violated her rights by continuing to use her work without compensation.
Just ahead of its one-year anniversary, Broadway musical Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark got some good news.
The production, which is the most expensive production in Broadway history, set a box office record at the Foxwoods Theatre, earning $2.1 million for the week ending Sunday.

The news marks a bright spot for a troubled production otherwise known for generating headlines for all the wrong reasons.
After several false starts, due to cast injuries, technical glitches and creative issues, Spider-Man began preview performances Nov. 28, 2010. In March, orginal director and co-writer Julie Taylor was ousted due to artistic differences and the other issues.

Earlier this month, Taymor filed a blockbuster lawsuit in New York that claims that Spider-Man has violated her rights by continuing to use her work without compensation.
The show, which features music and lyrics by Bono and the Edge, stars Reeve Carney as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Patrick Page as Norman Osborn/Green Goblin, Rebecca Faulkenberry as Mary Jane Watson and Christina Sajous as Arachne.
