Sports marketing vet joins Wasserman

John Brody spent past 11 years at Major League Baseball

Sports marketing industry veteran John Brody is joining the Wasserman Media Group as a principal and member of the company's executive management team, it was announced Monday.

Brody, who spent the past 11 years at Major League Baseball -- the past six as MLB's senior vp corporate sales and marketing -- will lead WMG's global sales division and develop new business ventures.

Brody, who also spent two years as executive vp and CMO of the NBA's Boston Celtics, will start his new position this month.

"John brings extensive industry experience to our company, and he has proven time and again that he has the ability to create new and innovative sports marketing business opportunities, even in challenging economic times," said Casey Wasserman, CEO of Wasserman Media Group. During Brody's tenure at MLB, brands including MasterCard, Pepsi, Bank of America, Anheuser-Busch, General Motors, Taco Bell and State Farm turned to baseball as a vehicle to engage their customers. He spearheaded numerous successful sponsorship programs generating hundreds of millions in partner support for the sport.

Before MLB and the Celtics, Brody worked as an advertising executive for Young & Rubicam New York.
