A Squared, AOL team up for webisodes

Features celebrities like Gisele Bundchen, Martha Stewart

A new kids company called A Squared Entertainment, formed by industry and marketing vets Andy Heyward and Amy Moynihan, has teamed with AOL on a slate of entertainment brands for children.

The shows will feature personalities like Warren Buffett, Gisele Bundchen, Martha Stewart and the late Carl Sagan and will teach kids about finance, the environment, creativity and science.

Working in collaboration with AOL, A Squared will produce a season's worth of 3-5 minute webisodes involving each celeb that will premier on AOL. No financial details were made available.

AOL will also work with A Squared to distribute the webisodes more broadly on the Web, leveraging the power of social networking.

In addition, AOL is working with branding agency MGX Labs to create an interactive world for each property, with games and activities to extend the webisode content. "Secret Millionaire's Club," featuring Buffett, and "GiGi & the Green Team," featuring Bundchen, are scheduled to debut on AOL this fall; "Little Martha," featuring Stewart, and "Kosmos," inspired by Sagan and created by Cosmos co-author Ann Druyan, will launch in spring 2010.

"A Squared was created to introduce great entertainment for kids that also serves to teach them about the world around them in fun ways," said Heyward. "We are privileged to have some of the premiere icons of our time to inspire modern content for children."

With 30 years of experience in children's programming as the head of DIC Entertainment, Heyward developed and oversaw properties like "Strawberry Shortcake," "Inspector Gadget" and "Alvin and the Chipmunks." He also collaborated worldwide with advertisers, licensors and promotional partners, including Hasbro, McDonald's and Wal*Mart. Moynihan is a 20-year brand marketing veteran responsible for launching products for brands like McDonald's and Disney Cruise Line.
