After exploring rock's Americana roots in 1987, U2 scaled way up with a record number of 3D cameras. Gross: $8.6 million; $10.4 million

Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds (2008)

Doubling as Disney Channel character Hannah Montana, it set the pace for concert movie profits. Gross: $69.9 million

Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience (2009)

The film followed the trio as they traversed the U.S., Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico on their fifth tour. Gross: $22.3 million

Michael Jackson This Is It (2009)

Released after Jackson's death, the Kenny Ortega-helmed doc chronicles preparations for the King of Pop's last tour. Gross: $252 million

Justin Bieber: Never Say Never (2011)

From YouTube to the world stage, the teen phenom surprised critics and parents with his inspiring story. Gross: $97 million

Glee: The 3D Concert Movie (2011)

The Fox show spawned a sold-out tour that grossed more than $40 million, but the film version fell short of revenue expectations. Gross: $18.3 million
