Star-studded Lineup Set for Quentin Tarantino's Postponed Friars Roast
Samuel L. Jackson, Bob and Harvey Weinstein, others to celebrate director
NEW YORK - Samuel L. Jackson, Uma Thurman, Harvey and Bob Weinstein, Harvey Keitel, Johnny Knoxville, Sarah Silverman, Rosario Dawson, Patricia Arquette and Steve Buscemi are part of the star-studded lineup scheduled to take part in the Friars Club roast of Quentin Tarantino here on Dec. 1.
Among the other roasters and dais guests: Kathy Griffin, Pam Grier, Richard Belzer, Rob Schneider, Whitney Cummings and Jeff Ross. Kristin Chenoweth will sing the national anthem.
The roast, to take place at the New York Hilton, was postponed in October due to the sudden death of Sally Menke, Tarantino’s longtime film editor and close friend.
"Having seen Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill, I can only pray that he understands that we only roast the ones we love,” joked Friars Club dean Freddie Roman.
Quipped Tarantino: “I am not coming to get my ass kicked, I am coming to kick some ass!”
To coincide with the 100th Friars Roast, a DVD box set of classic roasts from the 60’s has been released - including Johnny Carson, Don Rickles and Jerry Lewis.
