Hilary Duff, Ellen Burstyn, Evan Ross and Michael Murphy have been tapped to star in Nancy Bardawil's interracial teen romance "Greta" for Whitewater Films.

Duff will play the title role of a waitress who falls for an ambitious cook (Ross) at the restaurant where they work. But as their summer romance heats up, she has to overcome the concerns of her grandparents (Burstyn, Murphy) about her boyfriend's criminal past. The comic drama is now shooting in New Jersey.

"Greta" is produced by Whitewater's Rick Rosenthal (director of "Halloween: Resurrection" and "Bad Boys"), Douglas Sutherland and Gary Dean Simpson. The film marks writer Michael Gilvary and music video helmer Bardawil's feature debuts.

Whitewater productions include Jacob Aaron Estes' dramatic thriller "Mean Creek" for Paramount Classics; Scott Prendergast's comedy "Kabluey," starring Lisa Kudrow; and producer-director Rosenthal's drama "Nearing Grace," starring Jordana Brewster.

Duff is repped by WMA and Curtis Talent Management. Ross is repped by Innovative, manager Adam Griffin at Kritzer Levine Wilkins Entertainment and the law firm Ziffren, Brittenham. Burstyn is repped by CAA and Courtney Kivowitz at Benderspink. Murphy is repped by the Kohner Agency.
