Starz Inks Overall Deal With 'Power' Producer
David Knoller has entered a two-year pact with the premium cable network and will help develop the "Blackbirds" drama project.
Starz has inked an overall deal with Power executive producer David Knoller.
Under the two-year pact, Knoller will focus on producing, writing and directing, as well as continuing to develop new projects for Starz. He also joins the Blackbirds drama project, currently in development, as an executive producer and will return to the recently renewed Power for season two.
“David is one of those rare people who is able to make everything he's involved in better. As a producer and creator we believe in David's ability and look forward to our continued relationship,” said Carmi Zlotnik, managing director of Starz.
“It has been a creative reunion to work with Chris [Albrecht] and Carmi again, since our HBO days, and I am humbled and appreciate the opportunity and their confidence in me to help bring exciting programming to Starz,” Knoller said.
Producing Blackbirds — adapted from the Chuck Wendig novels — with Knoller is John Shiban, who runs Starz's Da Vinci's Demons. The project follows Miriam Black, a hitchhiker who struggles with a unique ability to see how and when you die when she touches you.
Knoller's producing credits include HBO's Big Love and Carnivale, earning him Emmy and Golden Globe nominations. Knoller is repped by ICM Partners.
