Starz Media has named Jonathan Taylor to the newly created position of vp public relations, with overall responsibility for all press and public relations activities at the programming production and distribution company.

Taylor had been senior vp at the Lippin Group, a public relations agency that has Starz Media and Starz Entertainment as clients.

In his new role, Taylor will be based at Starz Media's Burbank offices, reporting to senior vp corporate communications Tom Southwick.

"Jonathan was our account representative at Lippin for over a year, working closely with us, so he is already part of the Starz family," Southwick said. "We are delighted that he has chosen to join us full time."

Before joining Lippin, Taylor was the television, home entertainment and radio editor at the Los Angeles Times and held several top posts at Variety. Southwick noted that Taylor covered "all of the key elements" of Starz Media's businesses as a journalist.

Added Taylor, "After working with this growing and dynamic company as a client for more than a year, I am excited to be able to join the team full time. ... I am well aware of the growth opportunities in front of the company and happy to be able to help tell that story."

Southwick added that the Lippin Group will continue to serve as the public relations agency for both Starz Media and Starz Entertainment.
