Stephane Richard Named CEO of France Telecom
He will take over for Didier Lombard, who stepped down from his post last February, on March 1.
PARIS -- Stephane Richard was officially named chairman and CEO of France Telecom, the group said Wednesday.
Richard will officially take over for Didier Lombard after Lombard stepped down from his position a year early last February after a string of suicides at the company.
Lombard will act as “special adviser” to Richard on strategic options and technological outlook for the group.
“Crucially, he took the group firmly into the internet and IP age across both its fixed and mobile networks and was also a leading proponent of the convergence between these networks and the full range of digital devices,” France Telecom said of Lombard, adding that the board of directors commended “the exemplary way in which the transition has been conducted between the outgoing and incoming chairmen.”
Richard’s position will take effect on March 1.
