Stephen Colbert Blasts Senate Over Failed Gun Control Legislation
"My dog accomplished more than you this week, when it rolled over and licked its nuts."
Stephen Colbert did not hold back on The Late Show on Tuesday, clearly irked by the recent failure of gun control measures which were blocked in the Senate.
New proposals were introduced in the wake of the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history, taking place at a nightclub in Florida.
“After the attacks in Orlando, I thought maybe the government might do their job and pass any kind of law, even a fig leaf to justify their existence,” Colbert said straight-faced. “Well, for thinking that, I owe myself an apology.”
Colbert then proceeded to "take the gloves off" and lay into the Senate with a few burns beginning with: "Hey Senate. My dog accomplished more than you this week, when it rolled over and licked its nuts."
