Stephen Colbert Writes New 'Late Show' Theme Song, Sniffs Marker (Video)

Among the lyrics: "What time is it? It's late. / What show is it? It's show. / My name's Stephen Colbert / From my head down to my feet."

Stephen Colbert is one step closer to launching his late night show: He just finished writing an epic theme song.

Days after shaving his Colbeard, Colbert has released a new promo video for his upcoming Late Show — replacing David Letterman on CBS -- in which he beats out the opening theme song using a synthesizer.

The lyrics: "What time is it? It's late. / What show is it? It's show. / My name's Stephen Colbert / From my head down to my feet...where I keep my toe! / The show will be so great / It'll be a big success / You can watch it on TV on the station Columbia Broadcasting System...oh yes oh yes oh yes!"

Colbert then crosses off "theme song" from his to-do list — which also includes items like "things to say," "more things to say," "bolo tie?" and "kick Oxy" — before sniffing his marker.

The Late Show With Stephen Colbert debuts Sept. 8.
