"What cursed monkey paw did you wish upon to be president?"

The Late Show host Stephen Colbert couldn't pass up on commenting on the biggest political news of the day.

In a message from his "pretend office," Colbert addressed Friday's news that the FBI is investigating new emails from Hillary Clinton. His Friday monologue was taped on Thursday, so he wasn't able to comment on the news in that show, but since then, "kind of a neat story has come out" that he wanted to talk about.

The FBI announced earlier Friday that it will be investigating a new batch of Clinton's emails. The FBI actually had closed its investigation into Clinton's private email server in July, but the new investigation doesn't seem to have anything to do with Clinton's private server. The new emails were uncovered recently in an unrelated sexting probe involving Anthony Weiner.

"But here's the crazy part," said Colbert, adding that the FBI found out about the new emails because of an ongoing investigation into explicit messages sent to a 15-year-old girl from Weiner, estranged husband of Clinton aide Huma Abedin.

"Or, as The New York Times put it, 'New Clinton Case Emails Tied to Weiner,' " said Colbert, showing an article from the Times. "So, in a shocking twist, Anthony's Weiner's penis might destroy two political careers."

Colbert says this "October surprise" comes at an unfortunate time for Clinton, who was "riding high in the polls in the wake of sexual-assault allegations against Donald Trump. Truly, for the Clinton campaign, horny men giveth, and horny men taketh away."

"I've just got one thing to ask Hillary Clinton right now: What cursed monkey paw did you wish upon to be president? Just stop touching it! That goes for you too, Anthony Weiner!"
