Stephen Reverand joins Discovery Channel

Former NatGeo exec replaces interim head Christine Weber

Former NatGeo executive Stephen Reverand is joining Discovery Channel as the network's new senior vp of development and production for specials and events.

Reverand replaces interim head Christine Weber, who has joined the network as vp of development and production for specials and events.

The moves are the first executive appointments by Discovery Channel's new president Clark Bunting.

"Stephen is one of the best non-fiction production executives in the business," said Bunting. "He intrinsically understands the Discovery brand and delivers on delicate balance of finding fascinating topics to engage our viewers while creating content in the most compelling way. Chris is a powerhouse and we are thrilled to have her join our team permanently."

At NatGeo, Reverand oversaw projects such as "Stonehenge Decoded," "Six Degrees Could Change the World" and "Kingdom of the Blue Whale." Before that, Reverand worked at Discovery as a vp of production.
