Steve Carell's 'Seeking a Friend for the End of the World' Part of Gala Screenings for L.A. Film Festival
Sundance standouts "Beasts of the Southern Wild" and "Middle of Nowhere" are also part of the festival's gala screenings.
Focus Features’ Steve Carell-Keira Knightley dramedy Seeking a Friend for the End of the World will have its world premiere at the Los Angeles Film Festival, acting as one of the three gala screenings for the 2012 edition of the festival.
Fox Searchlight’s Beasts of the Southern Wild, which won the grand jury prize at the Sundance Film Festival, and AFFRM Participant’s Middle of Nowhere, which won the best director award at Sundance, are the other gala titles.

End of the World is the directorial debut of screenwriter of Lorene Scafaria and is set against the backdrop of Earth’s final days, exploring how people act. Focus is opening the movie June 22.
Beasts opens June 27 while Nowhere is being released Oct. 12.
Woody Allen’s To Rome With Love was previously announced as the film kicking off LAFF, which runs June 14-24 and will be headquartered at downtown Los Angeles’ L.A. Live.
