Steve Jobs to Be Honored at MTV's O Music Awards 2
Demi Lovato, Kelly Clarkson and The Band Perry sign on as the first acts to perform and present at the Oct. 31 digital show.
In honor of Steve Jobs’ immense contributions to digital music culture, MTV’s O Music Awards will pay tribute to the late Apple co-founder.
While exact details of the homage have yet to be revealed, MTV has announced that a special performance will be dedicated to Jobs’ memory, featuring an iconic song performed by an up-and-coming artist. Additionally, Kelly Clarkson, Demi Lovato, The Band Perry, Mac Miller, Midi Mafia and DJ Diamond Kuts have all signed on to perform and present at the Halloween show.
“Steve Jobs had the restless soul of an artist, the critical thinking of the nerdiest engineer, and an appreciation of exceptional design,” said Van Toffler, President of Viacom’s Music & Logo Group. “His ability to marry entertainment and technology was breathtaking, the likes of which we will probably never see again.”
The live multiplatform event is scheduled to begin Oct. 31 at 11:30 p.m. ET/8:30 p.m. PT on OMusicAwards.com. The show opening will be broadcast on MTV, while the full event will be made available across MTV Music Group websites -- including MTV.com, VH1.com, CMT.com, LogoTV.com and MTVHive.com.
