Live Streaming Startup Enlists Randy Jackson, Endemol's Charlie Corwin as Advisors (Exclusive)

The company wants to create original programming with social media influencers and traditional celebrities.

Live streaming startup Streamup is betting on original programming and has tapped a group of industry veterans to help.

The company has created a content advisory board to aid in its push into original formats that includes former American Idol judge Randy Jackson, Endemol Shine North America co-CEO Charlie Corwin, World of Wonder's Fenton Bailey, producer Anthony Bregman (Foxcatcher) and Entertainment Media Ventures founder Sandy Climan. Other members of the board include filmmaker Lance Weiler and former pro BMX rider and MTV VJ Dom Deluca. Streamup plans to continue to grow the board.

"In Streamup's effort to become the 'Netflix of Live Video,' we couldn't have assembled a better group of content experts than the members of our newly minted content advisory board," said Streamup president Will Keenan. "Each member has proven time and again they are at the top of their game in producing the best premium content across all platforms."

Streamup was founded in 2013 as a place to stream and comment on live and recorded shows, and it competes in a crowded landscape with other live streaming apps including Periscope, Meerkat and YouNow. It offers both one-click live streaming and more advanced video tools. The company, which will announce its initial slate of original programs soon, plans to offer prank shows, tutorials, musical performances and breaking news.
