Studio 8 Inks First-Look Deal With 'Harry Potter' Producer Tanya Seghatchian (Exclusive)
The deal reunites Jeff Robinov with the London-based producer.
Jeff Robinov's Studio 8 continues to build up its slate and partnerships, striking a first-look deal with Harry Potter producer Tanya Seghatchian.
The deal reunites Robinov and Seghatchian, who worked on the first four films in Warner Bros.' Harry Potter franchise together.
Seghatchian, who is based in London, previously won a BAFTA Award for producing Pawel Pawlikowski’s 2004 film My Summer of Love. As the head of the Development and Film Funds at the British Film Institute (BFI) and the U.K. Film Council (UKFC), she made investments in films including The King's Speech, The Iron Lady, The Woman in Black and Steve McQueen's Shame.
Since launching in late 2014, Studio 8, funded in partnership with Chinese investment management firm Fosun Group and Sony, has been focused on creating a filmmaker-driven company through its slate and first-look deals. The company's first group of films includes projects from Hunger Games director Francis Lawrence and The Book of Eli co-director Albert Hughes. Studio 8 also recently struck a first-look deal with LBI Entertainment, whose films include The Other Woman.
