LONDON -- U.K. satcaster British Sky Broadcasting said Friday that it has inked deals with Paramount and Warner Bros. to supply users of its Sky Anytime on PC download service with access to their catalog of movies.

Sky Anytime on PC is now the first U.K. download service to offer the latest movies from all six major movie studios.

"Working with leading content providers has been a key factor in the success of Sky Movies and we're delighted to be the first download service to offer titles from all the major studios," said Ian Lewis, director of Sky Movies and Sky Box Office.

There are two different ways for Sky TV customers to use Sky Anytime on PC to download titles from the major studios. Customers who subscribe to all of the premium Sky Movies channels have access to 400-500 subscription movies to download to their PC at no extra cost.

Alternatively, all Sky TV customers, including Sky Movies subscribers, can download a selection of the most recent movies on a pay-per-view basis through Sky Box Office.

The new deals also increase the range of movies available as part of the Sky Anytime on TV service, which allows customers with Sky HD and more recent Sky+ boxes to enjoy a selection of the week's best programs on-demand.

"The evolution of Sky Movies into a multiplatform, multimedia service is driven by customer demands to watch the best movies how and when they want," Lewis added. "Sky Movies offers customers the U.K.'s widest choice of films, high definition services, an on-demand service through TV and PC, mobile TV and the world's most-read Movies magazine. Our customers have never had such a rich and compelling movies service."

The expanded lineup of films on Sky Anytime on PC is part of a range of significant enhancements to Sky Anytime on PC, announced this month.

Sky has recently added programming from third party channels such as National Geographic, The History Channel, The Biography Channel and Crime & Investigational Network.

It has also made it simpler for customers to access Sky Anytime on PC. The new-look Sky Anytime on PC is a web-based application, making it easier to navigate and search for programs through a simple URL, www.sky.com/anytimepc.

This also allows customers to access content on Sky Anytime on PC directly from other Sky Web sites and to initiate downloads to their home PC even while they're using another computer at work or on the move.
