Studios and Teamsters, Other Crafts Unions Reach Tentative Agreement
The tentative deal features 2 percent wage increases and additional funding of the health plan.
Hollywood studios have reached an agreement with Teamsters truck drivers and four other unions, according to an announcement Friday by the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers and the Basic Crafts Unions. The three-year tentative deal includes 2 percent annual wage increases and additional funding of the union health plan.
Although no other details of the deal were released, The Hollywood Reporter has learned that the agreement tracks the April IATSE agreement, which is currently being voted on by members. Likewise, today’s deal is subject to a later ratification vote by members of the five unions, which are Teamsters Local 399, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 40, Plumbers Local 78, Studio Utility Employees Local 724 and Operative Plasterers and Cement Masons Local 755.
Leo T. Reed, Chairman of the Basic Crafts negotiating committee and president of Teamsters Local 399, called the deal “fair and equitable for both parties,” adding “It is my sincere desire to keep as much production in Los Angeles as possible.”
The AMPTP said, “The deals (with the five unions) will help keep productions working without interruption in the Los Angeles area and, for Teamsters Local 399, throughout the 13 Western states as the industry continues to adapt to the challenges of producing in today’s market.”
