'Stupid,' 'IT,' 'Kath & Kim' on NBC roster
EmptyNBC is close to handing out cast-contingent pilot orders to three comedies from NBC Universal TV Studio based on international formats: "I'm With Stupid," "The IT Crowd" and "Kath & Kim."
"Stupid," a co-production with Reveille and BBC Worldwide Prods., is based on the BBC 3 comedy about a down-and-out guy who befriends a wheelchair-bound young man and winds up moving into his group home for the disabled.
Wil Calhoun penned the pilot and is executive producing with Bobby Farrelly, Peter Farrelly, Ben Silverman, Kenton Allen and Bradley Thomas.
Peter Farrelly is set to direct the single-camera project, which was originally picked up a couple of weeks ago with a put pilot commitment (HR 10/23).
"Kath & Kim," also a co-production with Reveille, is based on the hit Australian sitcom about a divorced mother and her miserable daughter who live together in the suburbs.
Nancy Pimental penned the adaptation and is executive producing with Silverman.
"IT Crowd," a co-production with FremantleMedia North America, is a hybrid multi- and single-camera comedy based on the Channel 4 series about the geeky and unappreciated IT workers at a company.
David Guarascio, Moses Port, Joe Port and Joe Wiseman are the writers/executive producers.
