'Suck City' under Fox 2000 shelter
EmptyPaul Weitz's adaptation of Nick Flynn's best-selling memoir "Another Bullshit Night in Suck City" has landed at Fox 2000.
The Michael Costigan-produced picture originally was set up at Sony Pictures but recently was put into turnaround.
Fox 2000 has picked up the option and will produce along with Weitz and his Depth of Field production company that he co-owns with his brother Chris Weitz. Paul Weitz also plans on directing the project.
Costigan, who now serves as Scott Free's president of production, will produce, though outside of his work with Scott Free.
Flynn's memoir revolves around his experiences as a case worker for the homeless and his relationship with his father. As a teenager, Flynn had received letters from his estranged father, a delusional con man and self-proclaimed poet. The memoir follows Flynn and his father, whose self-destructive behavior eventually drives him onto the streets and into the homeless shelter where Flynn works.
Carla Hacken is the executive on the project, under the guidance of Fox 2000's president Elizabeth Gabler.
Weitz wrote, directed and produced Universal Pictures' "In Good Company," which bowed in early 2005. He also co-directed with Chris Weitz "About a Boy," also for Universal. He is repped by WMA.
