Sue Mengers Broadway Play Targets Agent Penis Size
Bette Midler plays the late super-agent in the play, set in 1981 and opening today -- which also zings the CAA's Ovitz-era corporate culture.
This story first appeared in the May 3 issue of The Hollywood Reporter magazine.
CAA, circa 1981, is the butt of several jokes in Broadway's I'll Eat You Last, in which (CAA client) Bette Midler portrays the late caustic agent Sue Mengers of ICM.
In one scene in the play, written by (CAA client) John Logan, Mengers berates the agency by making a jerk-off gesture, then amending it to, "More like," with a thimble-sized jerk-off gesture. She also bemoans CAA's more corporate approach: "I've seen the future, and it's not pretty."

Spotting Paramount's Brad Grey backstage at a preview, THR asked how he thought CAA would take the jokes. "I expect they'll find it funny," he said with a laugh.
