Summit Sets Release Dates for 'Allegiant,' 'Gods of Egypt,' 'Step Up All In'
The third film based on Veronica Roth's books and the Greek mythology pic will both hit theaters in 2016.
Lionsgate's Summit announced release dates for three of its upcoming projects: Step Up All In, Gods of Egypt and Allegiant.
Step Up All In, the next installment in the popular dance franchise, will open in theaters on July 25, 2014. The 3D film will star Step Up regulars Ryan Guzman, Briana Evigan, Stephen "tWitch" Boss and Misha Gabriel. Trish Sie is helming the pic. All In will be the fifth film in the franchise.
The pic will open against Paramount's Hercules, which stars Dwayne Johnson and is directed by Brett Ratner.
Summit also slated both period epic Gods of Egypt and YA adaption Allegiant for release in 2016.
Gods of Egypt, starring Gerard Butler, Geoffrey Rush and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, will hit theaters on Feb. 12, 2016. Butler plays Set, the merciless god of darkness, who has usurped Egypt’s throne. Bek (Brenton Thwaites), a defiant mortal, enlists the aid of the powerful god Horus (Coster-Waldau) in an unlikely alliance against the evil overlord. Alex Proyas directed the pic.
Universal's untitled Illumination Entertainment project is also slated for release on that date.
Allegiant, the third film based on the hit YA series by Veronica Roth, will open in theaters on March 18, 2016. The first film in the series, Divergent, will hit theaters March 21, 2014, and the second, Insurgent, will come be released on March 20, 2015. The films star Shailene Woodley and Theo James. The story is set in a futuristic North America where people are divided into groups based on the traits they most value.
The only other film currently slated for release on that date is Fox's Mumbai Musical (working title), a Bollywood-style musical.
