Summit shifts into 'Drive Angry'
Firm will distribute Nicolas Cage pic in North AmericaSummit Entertainment has picked up the North American distribution to the Nicolas Cage revenge movie "Drive Angry," setting a release date of February 11, 2011.
The move keeps the company in the Cage business, which has been a successful one for the company. Summit was behind "Knowing," which grossed almost $80 million domestically when it was released in March and $183 million worldwide.
"Angry," which is now in pre-production, centers on a man (Cage) driven by rage who is chasing the people who killed his daughter and kidnapped her baby. The vendetta/rescue spins out of control, as the chase gets bloodier by the mile, leaving bodies strewn along the highway.
The project, which will be in 3-D, is being directed by Patrick Lussier ("My Bloody Valentine") from a screenplay penned by Lussier and Todd Farmer.
Michael De Luca is producing via his Michael De Luca Productions banner along with Adam Fields. Boaz Davidson and Danny Dimbort will executive produce via their Nu Image Films banner along with Avi Lerner and Trevor Short.
