Sundance: Bleecker Street Taps Elevation Pictures for Canadian Distribution
Andrew Karpen's new indie has made a deal with the Canadian distributor backed by Teddy Schwarzman's Black Bear Pictures.
Andrew Karpen's Bleecker Street has inked a multiyear Canadian distribution deal with Elevation Pictures.
Elevation, the Canadian indie distributor backed by Teddy Schwarzman's Black Bear Pictures, will handle all marketing, sales and distribution in Canada for titles from Bleecker Street, the New York-based indie launched in fall 2014 by Karpen, a former Focus Features co-CEO.
The Canadian deal with Elevation Pictures co-presidents Laurie May and Noah Segal will start with Danny Collins, starring Al Pacino and Annette Bening, and set to open on March 20, 2015, and Pawn Sacrifice, directed by Edward Zwick and starring Tobey Maguire, Peter Sarsgaard, Liev Schreiber and Michael Stuhlbarg.
"I've always wanted to be in business with Laurie and Noah. They know how to reach Canadian filmgoers, and we're really proud to be partnering with them on our upcoming films," Karpen said Tuesday in a statement.
The deal was negotiated by Karpen with Avy Eschenasy on behalf of Bleecker Street, and May and Segal for Elevation Pictures.
