Sundance Channel on iPhone and iPad in Spain
TV Everywhere Service launches with Telefonica's Movistar Imagenio in Spain with films and series such as "Mad Men," "The Slap" and "Intelligence."
MADRID- Sundance Channel announced Tuesday it is now available on iPhone and iPad with Movistar Imagenio in Spain. The news comes on the heels of the recent launch of the network locally on Android and Blackberry smartphones.
Established by Robert Redford, Sundance Channel offers audiences a selection of independent films, documentaries and original programs. It is available since June 2011 as an standard and high-definition channel--which also offers VOD-- in Spain on Telefónica’s IPTV service, Movistar Imagenio.
“Sundance Channel’s launch on iPhone and iPad devices on Movistar Imagenio in Spain is a key development in the growth of our multi-platform distribution strategy internationally," said Bruce Tuchman, president of AMC/Sundance Channel Global. "Consumer and distributor demand for TV Everywhere access continues to grow worldwide, and we are uniquely positioned to offer broad rights for our high quality, globally renowned entertainment.”
Sundance Channel will debut a line up of programming this summer in Spain. New film and documentary premieres in July include Bienvenido a Farewell-Gutmann, A Delicate Balance, The Wings of the Dove, The Yards, Sexo Con Amor, Restoration, Kimjongilia and A Flash of Green. Season 2 of the acclaimed series Mad Men will continue to air throughout the month, along with other original programs such as The Slap, Intelligence, The Fabulous Beekman Boys, Man Shops Globe and more.
The network is available to pay TV operators worldwide as a standard and high definition linear television channel, VOD service and via online authenticated streaming. Additionally, select VOD program offerings are available during theatrical windows so audiences can watch films in the comfort of their own home while films are still in theatres.
In addition to Sundance Channel, AMC/Sundance Channel Global offers WE tv in Asia, a women’s lifestyle network that features the best in wedding and celebrity driven reality programming such as Braxton Family Values, Joan and Melissa: Joan Knows Best, My Fair Wedding With David Tutera, Shannen Says and Tori and Dean.
