Sundance Film Festival — Hong Kong Selects Announces Lineup
Acclaimed documentary The Case Against 8 and Mark Ruffalo-starrer Infinitely Polar Bear will headline the Sundance Film Festival — Hong Kong Selects screening series, from Sept. 19-28, at newly opened multiplex The Metroplex in Hong Kong.
The Sundance Film Festival — Hong Kong Selects screening series is the collaboration between Sundance Institute and The Metroplex. The series will show eight new films direct from the 2014 festival in Park City, Utah.
The series will feature five of the Sundance Festival’s award-winning films. The full lineup includes documentary The Case Against 8; drama Fishing Without Nets by Cutter Hodierne; God Help the Girl, the directorial debut of Belle and Sebastian frontman Stuart Murdoch; Infinitely Polar Bear by Maya Forbes and starring Mark Ruffalo and Zoe Saldana; zombie comedy Life After Beth; The Skeleton Twins by Craig Johnson and starring Kristen Wiig, Luke Wilson and Bill Hader; drama Whiplash by Damien Chazelle; and Zach Braff’s comedy-drama Wish I Was Here.
Sundance Film Festival director John Cooper said, “In our effort to share the best of American independent film with audiences outside the U.S., Hong Kong seemed an excellent location with a rich cinematic history. In partnership with The Metroplex, we look forward to presenting this program of diverse and high-quality independent films.”
Forbes of Infinitely Polar Bear, Jeff Baena of Life After Beth, Johnson of The Skeleton Twins, Hodierne of Fishing Without Nets, and Ben Cotner and Ryan White of The Case Against 8 will attend the post-screening Q&As with audiences. Cooper also will attend and moderate a panel discussion, entitled Visions of Independence, on Sept. 20 with Bede Cheng, senior program manager of The Metroplex.
