Sundance London’s Inaugural Event Will Include Short Film Award Winner
U.K. competition to award premiere at April 2012 event as prize.
LONDON – The inaugural Sundance London music and film festival will boast a short film competition winner when it opens for business in April next year.
Organizers said the four-day movie and music shindig will premiere the winner during the festival, which runs April 26 through 29, 2012 after sifting through online entrants in the run up.
Sundance London is partnering with Greenwich Council and Ravensbourne to launch the Sundance London short film competition.
U.K.-based filmmakers are being invited to enter original pieces between three and five minutes in length around the theme "Story of Our Time."
Films must be submitted via http://competition.sundance-london.com.
A panel of judges will select a 25-strong shortlist before a further panel, made up of Sundance Institute staff and the directors of the films being shown at Sundance London, choose a winner for the festival lineup.
Robert Redford, founder and president of Sundance Institute, said: “We are living through arguably some of the most profound years of rapid change in our lifetimes. Reflections and stories from filmmakers around the unifying theme of ‘Story of Our Time,’ we hope will open a window into both the challenge and the inspiration of these days.”
Sundance London is promising the U.K. premieres of 14 films fresh from the 2012 Sundance Film Festival which takes place in January 2012 in Park City, Utah.
