Sundance: Momentum, Netflix Team to Buy Comedy 'Fun Mom Dinner'
Adam Scott and Paul Rudd exec produced the comedy, which stars Molly Shannon and Toni Collette.
eOne's Momentum Pictures and Netflix are making a reservation for Fun Mom Dinner.
In a preemptive deal, Momentum acquired North American rights to the comedy, which stars Molly Shannon, Katie Aselton, Toni Collette and Bridget Everett as a group of moms whose night out takes a serious turn. At the same time, Netflix acquired multiple-territory SVOD rights to the film, even though it won't make its debut at Sundance until Jan. 27, at the tail end of the festival. A source pegged the combined deals at just south of $5 million.
Adam Scott, who executive produced Fun Mom Dinner with Paul Rudd, also stars, in addition to Maroon Five frontman Adam Levine.
Alethea Jones directed the feature from a script by Julie Rudd (Paul's wife). Naomi Scott, Andrew Duncan and Alex Saks produced.
Fun Mom Dinner will screen in the Premieres section of the festival.
WME, UTA and ICM negotiated the deal.
