Sundance Selects has acquired all U.S. Rights to writer/director Maiwenn’s French Film Poliss from Wild Bunch, continuing its buying spree at the Cannes Film Festival.
Maiwenn also stars in the film, alongside Emmanuelle Bercot, Karin Viard, Joey Starr, Marina Fois, Nicholas Duvauchelle, Karole Rocher, Frederic Pierrot, Arnaud Henriet and Naidra Ayadi.
Poliss, playing in competition at Cannes, was produced by Alain Attal and co-written by Bercot.
The film follows a group of individuals and officers working in and around a child protection unit in Paris.
Jonathan Sehring, President of Sundance Selects, said: "With Poliss, Maiwenn has given the Cannes Film Festival a jolt of electricity with an unforgettable ensemble cast. We think her incredibly cinematic story will really connect with American audiences.”
The deal for the film was negotiated on behalf of Sundance Selects by Arianna Bocco, senior vice president of acquisitions & productions, and Betsy Rodgers, senior vice president of business & legal Affairs, and by Wild Bunch on behalf of the filmmakers.
Sundance Selects is a sister division of IFC Films and IFC Midnight, and is owned and operated by Rainbow Media.
