Sundance: Steven Spielberg Attends 'Young Ones' Premiere
PARK CITY, Utah -- Steven Spielberg descended upon the land of indies on Saturday night to attend the premiere of Young Ones, a film about a family trying to survive in a future where water has run out.
The famous director made the trek to Park City to support his godson, Jake Paltrow, who helmed the drama starring Michael Shannon, Elle Fanning, Nicholas Hoult and Kodi Smit-McPhee.
Before the 9:45 p.m. premiere at Eccles Theatre, Spielberg attended an intimate dinner of 35 people with Paltrow and the cast at The Snow Lodge on Main Street. Spielberg was joined by a group of nine others, including wife Kate Capshaw.
Paltrow, who is the younger brother of actress Gwyneth Paltrow, gave a short speech at the dinner, thanking many of the producers and actors involved with the project. He specifically thanked Spielberg, whom he called a "hero" of his.
In the dystopian film, Shannon plays a patriarch whose main focus is to keep his children (Fanning, Smit-McPhee) safe, but his daughter's boyfriend (Hoult) brings drama into the family.
After the dinner, Paltrow, the cast and Spielberg headed to the premiere, where the film received a warm reaction.
