Sundance: Tribeca Film Lands 'Misery Loves Comedy'

The documentary shares the journeys of over 50 funny filmmakers, writers, directors, actors and comedians.

Tribeca Film has acquired North American rights to Misery Loves Comedy ahead of its premiere at Sundance.

Misery Loves Comedy follows the journeys of American and Canadian funny people, exploring their unique paths and lives devoted to making strangers laugh.

The documentary features Jimmy FallonWhoopi GoldbergMatthew Perry, Jon Favreau, Judd Apatow, Martin Short and more.

Kevin Pollak directed the documentary and co-wrote it with John Vorhaus. Becky Newhall, and Burton Ritchie produced the doc with Ben Galecki as executive producer.

Kevin Pollak has made a 'must watch' on the art of comedy, for casual enthusiasts, to connoisseurs, to aspiring comedians," said Todd Green, general manager of Tribeca Film.

The deal was negotiated for Tribeca Film by Alison Diviney, manager of acquisitions, along with Nick Savva, vp Acquisitions, and UTA Independent Film Group on behalf of the filmmakers.
