The British spinoff will now take place June 2-5 in London's West End to avoid clashes with U.K. film events in Sheffield and Edinburgh.

The Sundance Film Festival: London — the British spinoff of Robert Redford's Utah fest, which kicks off this week — has moved its dates a week earlier.

The event, which saw its 2015 edition postponed, is now set to run June 2-5, with the move likely to have been made to avoid clashes with the Sheffield Doc Fest (June 10-15) and the Edinburgh International Film Festival (June 15-26). As previously announced, it will be held in the Picturehouse Central, which opened last year in London's West End.

“Picturehouse and Sundance Institute have taken the decision to adjust our 2016 dates in order to find the ideal place amongst the U.K. film and event calendar in June," said Picturehouse's director of programming and acquisitions Clare Binns. "The new dates offer maximum opportunity for U.K. and London film fans to see a wide range of new independent films this June."

Like previous editions, the event will feature international and U.K. premieres of films taken from the most recent edition of the Sundance festival.
