SundanceTV Renews 'Close Up With The Hollywood Reporter' for Season 3
The series, which is nominated for a Daytime Emmy, will return in the fall with episodes featuring both TV and film roundtables.
SundanceTV has renewed its original nonfiction series Close Up With The Hollywood Reporter for a third season, produced in partnership with THR.
The series will return in the fall with 14 hourlong episodes, with the season divided into two parts: The first will feature candid roundtable discussions with notables from the television community, and the second will focus on some of the most talented actors, actresses, directors, writers and producers from the film industry.
The renewal comes on the heels of the series' Daytime Emmy nomination in the outstanding special-class series category.
The previous season of Close Up With The Hollywood Reporter included candid and lively discussions with well-known talent and award nominees from the year's most acclaimed films and television series. Guests including Oscar winners Emma Stone, Mahershala Ali, Casey Affleck, Barry Jenkins and Damien Chazelle, as well as such other A-listers as Taraji P. Henson, Justin Timberlake, Naomie Harris and Mel Gibson, discussed everything from diversity on- and off-screen, what influences characters and scripts, mastering difficult locations and reluctant subjects and the process of bringing these films to an audience.
"We're ecstatic to continue our partnership with The Hollywood Reporter to bring Close Up to SundanceTV for a third season,” said Jan Diedrichsen, the network's general manager. "The show is a fascinating peek behind the curtain, and we look forward to introducing a new group of candid roundtables from some of today's most acclaimed individuals in television and film for the newest season."
Added THR editorial director Matthew Belloni: "We're thrilled Close Up is returning to SundanceTV for another year of A-list guests and intimate conversations viewers can't see anywhere else. The recent Daytime Emmy Award nomination is a testament to the way this unique and powerful series has resonated with audiences."
The Hollywood Reporter is well known for hosting influential roundtable conversations with industry insiders, garnering its own Emmy Award for a roundtable conversation titled The Hollywood Reporter in Focus: The Wolf of Wall Street, which featured Martin Scorsese, Terence Winter, Leonardo DiCaprio and Jonah Hill.
SundanceTV added that Close Up With The Hollywood Reporter represents "a continued commitment ... to innovative, informative unscripted programming that sheds light on the world of filmed storytelling and pop culture."
The series is executive produced by Janice Min, Belloni, Stephen Galloway, Jennifer Laski and Lacey Rose from The Hollywood Reporter and Paul Haddad from SundanceTV and produced by Stephanie Fischette from The Hollywood Reporter.
