Super Bowl: The Muppets Hit the Road in Toyota (Video)
It's game on for Jim Henson's team of colorful characters as they head to New Jersey to help Kermit the Frog live-tweet Super Bowl XLVIII.
Everyone was at the Super Bowl XLVIII on Sunday -- even The Muppets.
In the new Toyota commercial that aired during the game on Feb. 2, Jim Henson's band of merry travelers set off in a Highlander to New Jersey after being summoned by Kermit the Frog to help him live-tweet the Super Bowl.
With Rowlf the Dog behind the wheel and Scooter sitting shotgun, they headed out to MetLife Stadium -- but the troupe's backstage gofer has trouble telling everyone exactly where they are going.
Whenever Scooter tries to say the word "Super Bowl," the car horn is hit, a pigeon lands on the hood or someone simply spontaneously interrupts, with the Swedish chef finally announcing it as, "The Sferndy Boom!"
The shenanigans are part of Toyota's partnership with The Muppets to promote their new Highlander on social media in partnership with 360i, with content rolling out on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Vine using the hashtag #noroomforboring or tweeting @Toyota. Fans wanting to "comment and banter on Twitter" could chat with the stuffed celebrities on Sunday.
The ad airs in the run up to the premiere of the upcoming movie, Muppets Most Wanted.
Ricky Gervais, Tina Fey and Ty Burrell also star in the crime caper, which was written by Nicholas Stoller and James Bobin, who also directs. The film hits theaters Mar. 21.
