Sutherland's heart is with 'Eastmans'

Donald Sutherland is set to star on CBS' drama pilot "The Eastmans."

Meanwhile, "Lost" alum Ian Somerhalder is closing in as a lead on the CW's drama pilot "Vampire Diaries," and Allison Munn has landed a lead on NBC's untitled Justin Adler comedy pilot.

Additionally, Joy Suprano has joined NBC's comedy pilot "100 Questions for Charlotte Payne," and Joaquim de Almeida has been added to CBS' drama pilot "Three Rivers."

WBTV's "Eastmans" revolves around a dysfunctional family of doctors. Sutherland will play the rogue and wealthy patriarch, a distinguished cardiologist.

WBTV's "Vampire" centers on Elena (Nina Dobrev), who is the object of passion for two vampire brothers, one played by Somerhalder. He is repped by Innovative and Untitled.

Michael Trevino, Katerina Graham, Sarah Carey, Zach Roerig, Candice Accola and Kayla Ewell also are cast in the pilot.

Graham, repped by Pantheon and Jon Simmons, will play Elena's best friend, and Carey will play Elena's aunt. Innovative-repped Roerig will play Elena's former boyfriend, and Accola, repped by Glick and Untitled, will play her rival. Trevino, repped by Michael Greene and Luber Roklin, will play a cocky jock, with Ewell, repped by Innovative and Brad Warshaw, his troubled girlfriend.

Sony/Tantamount's Adler project, is about a multigenerational family led by a controlling mother who is not thrilled when her youngest son (Nick D'Agosto) brings home his first serious girlfriend (Munn).

UMS' "Charlotte" centers on a young woman navigating her life and friends. Suprano, repped by Gersh and 3 Arts, will play the lead character's best friend.

CBS Par's "Rivers" is about doctors, donors and patients involved with organ transplants. De Almeida, repped by APA and Principal, will recur as director of the institute of transplant medicine. (partialdiff)
