SVA to open Visual Arts Theater

NEW YORK -- New York's School of Visual Arts is transforming the former Chelsea West Cinemas into the Visual Arts Theater, a 20,000-square-foot cultural center for film screenings and artist lectures.

SVA is in talks with the Museum of the Moving Image, the Producers Guild of America, the Writers Guild of America, East and other potential partners for events to fill the two renovated auditoriums beginning this fall.

The theaters will be available for music and arts performances, as well as 70mm, 35mm and digital 3-D projection equipment.
