Swedish crime drama sells wide

'Girl With the Dragon Tattoo' goes to five territories

BERLIN -- Niels Arden Oplev's Swedish crime hit "Men Who Hate Women" -- also known as "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" -- continues to scare up sales, with Zodiak Entertainment closing five territory deals including ones to U.K.'s Momentum and Australia's Rialto on the title.

The drama, the first in the "Millennium" trilogy based on the best-selling novels by Stieg Larsson, is already the most successful Scandinavian film of all time and is closing in on the 1 million admissions mark in French-speaking Europe.

Produced by Sweden's Yellow Bird, "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" has also sold to Bim in Italy, Vertigo in Spain, Alliance in French-speaking Canada and Monolith in Poland, among others.
