Sword play in plans for U.K.'s Intandem

Picks up sword-and-sandals thriller 'Mortis Rex'

U.K.-based sales and finance company Intandem Films has boarded the sword-and-sandals supernatural action thriller "Mortis Rex" as executive producers.

Intandem has secured worldwide sales duties to the movie and plans to snare buyers at this year's American Film Market. Intandem plans to source and package financing on the project.

Set in 122 A.D., the $25 million-budgeted movie details the story of a disgraced Roman war hero who is sent to defend a Roman garrison after a spate of mysterious and brutal killings and comes face to face with a terrifying supernatural beast.

The project marks the directorial debut for genre scribe Peter Briggs, credited co-writer with Guillermo del Toro on the original "Hellboy."

Produced by Stuart Pollok, Matthew Dench and Marisa Kagan, "Mortis Rex" will be executive produced by Dominic Ianno and is set to shoot in the U.K. and Hungary in the second quarter of 2009.
