SXSW Unveils Midnight Movies Line-Up
Eleven genre films will be featured in the fest's Midnighters section.
Cannibalism, necrophilia and the paranormal are all on the menu of the midnight film slate announced today by The South by Southwest Film Conference and Festival, which runs from March 13-21 in Austin, Texas. The fest’s Midnighters section will feature 11 genre films, including nine world premieres. Those 11 films will be part of the 145 features scheduled to screen at SXSW.
The line-up includes Jason Krawczk’s He Never Died, in which Henry Rollins plays a man struggling with cannibalism; Hector Hernandez Vicens’ The Corpse of Anna Fritz, in which three young men attempt to have sex with the body of a dead actress; and Alistair Legrand’s The Diabolical, in which a single mom, played by Ali Larter, and her children must confront paranormal forces.

The schedule also includes Karyn Kusama’s The Invitation, Jason Lei Howden’s Deathgasm, Patrick Kennelly’s Excess Flesh, Adam Mason’s Hangman, Rodney Ascher’s The Nightmare, Mickey Keating’s Pod, RKSS Collective’s Turbo Kid and Ted Geoghegan’s We Are Still Here.
The fest also announced 106 short films, selected from a record 4,935 short film submissions, that will screen during the course of the festival.
