Syfy, After Dark co-producing two movies

'Banshee,' '51' to air in Saturday night creature-feature slot

Syfy is teaming with indie production company After Dark on two films for the network's Saturday night creature-feature slot.

The first co-production is "Scream of the Banshee," starring Lauren Holly ("NCIS") and Lance Henriksen ("Aliens"), about a professor who releases a creature with a bone-splitting scream.

The second is "51," which revolves around a group of reporters allowed access to a top-secret Air Force base housing aliens.

After Dark produces Syfy's annual "8 Films to Die For" event.

"We've aired nearly 20 After Dark-acquired movies, which have played very well with our viewers," said Thomas Vitale, Syfy executive vp programming and original movies. "Because of After Dark's strong branding, effective production values and understanding of the audience, we are excited to expand our relationship."
