Syfy's 'Haven' Casts 'Alphas' Star in Recurring Role
Laura Mennell is added to the sci-fi series as production on a fifth season gets underway in Nova Scotia.
TORONTO – Syfy's Haven has added Laura Mennell to its core cast as it begins production on the fifth season in Nova Scotia.
The Alphas star has joined the ensemble in the recurring role of Dr. Erin Reid, an epidemiologist from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention who fears the town of Haven is on the verge of a deadly viral outbreak.
The 26-episode fifth season is produced by Entertainment One and Big Motion Pictures, in association with Piller/Segan/Shepherd.
Haven also airs on Showcase in Canada and internationally via Universal Networks International.
Mennell joins a cast that includes Emily Rose, Lucas Bryant, Eric Balfour and Adam Copeland.
Haven is based on the novella The Colorado Kid by author Stephen King, and follows former FBI agent Audrey Parker, who becomes a cop in the small town of Haven, Maine, and soon discovers the town’s many secrets, which also unlock the mysteries of her lost past.
When the series returns this fall, Haven’s protectors are thrust into uncharted waters: Duke is now a ticking time bomb, fighting to contain the Troubles within him, while Nathan faces his greatest fear that Audrey — the woman he’s fought so desperately to save — may be gone forever.
Haven is executive produced by John Morayniss, David MacLeod, Lloyd Segan, Shawn Piller, Scott Shepherd, Matt McGuinness and Gabrielle Stanton.
The series was developed by Sam Ernst and Jim Dunn.
