Tag Heuer Launches Special Watch Timed with India's First Formula One Race
The 'India Racing Edition' marks Tag Heuer's 150 year-old relationship with motor racing coinciding with India's first Formula One race.
NEW DELHI – With India gearing up for its first Formula One race to be held this weekend at the Buddh International Circuit near Delhi, watchmaker Tag Heuer has launched a special "India Racing Edition" watch.
The 200-piece limited edition of the watch is priced at 199,000 rupees (about $4,000) each. The launch also honors Tag Heuer's longstanding relationship with motor racing with its ongoing "Mastering Speed for 150 years" celebrations.
The TAG Heuer Carrera Tachymeter Chronograph has been chosen for this special edition whose design includes colors of the Indian flag, saffron and green, while the "Mastering Speed for 150 years"logo has been placed on the dial as well as on the sapphire crystal case back. The chronograph hand, along with the thread stitching on the leather strap, is in India saffron colors.
The Carrera -- which in Spanish means “competition of the highest order” -- has graced the wrists of many racing giants and draws its name from the most prestigious and dangerous endurance race of its day.
India's first Formula One race is expected to draw top celebrities including Bollywood superstar and Tag Heuer's India brand ambassador Shah Rukh Khan, while Lady Gaga is slated to perform at the closing after-party on Sunday 30 October at the specially created LAP lounge, promoted by Bollywood star Arjun Rampal.
In addition, the F1 Rocks event will feature Metallica at their first India concert to be held Friday at the outskirts of Delhi.
