Tahra Grant Joins Sony Pictures From Rubenstein
The publicist, who handled corporate communications for the Tribeca Film Festival, among other clients, will be a vp in corporate communications for the studio.
Tahra Grant is joining Sony Pictures Entertainment as a vp in corporate communications, reporting to SPE chief communications officer Robert Lawson.
Grant is making the move to the studio after serving as a vp in the entertainment division at Rubenstein in New York. In fact, Grant and Lawson worked together on various clients when he was at the New York-based communications agency, though Grant was not in Lawson’s group.
A well-respected publicist in New York's film circles, Grant handled corporate communications for such clients as Tribeca Enterprises/The Tribeca Film Festival, The Metropolitan Opera and The Orchard. She also led campaigns for film and TV titles including the Hunger Games franchise, Steven Soderbergh's The Girlfriend Experience and Jane Campion's Top of the Lake.
Grant also ran festival and specialized-audience campaigns for films such as Participant Media's Beasts of No Nation and Spotlight, Darren Aronofsky’s Noah and The Divergent Series: Insurgent.
Additional clients have included Focus Features, Paramount, Sony Pictures Classics, Roadside Attractions, HBO Documentary Films, New York Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell, Doha Tribeca Film Festival, The Robin Hood Foundation and BMW.
Grant is relocating to Los Angeles, where she will join a Sony communications team that includes Lawson, who was hired by the studio in May 2015, and senior vp media relations Jean Guerin. She will begin work at the studio in early September.
“I’ve worked with Tahra for years," Lawson said Tuesday in a statement. "She is an excellent communications executive, and we are thrilled to have her at SPE as we roll out an exciting new slate of films this fall.”
