'The Talk' Sees Double Digit Gains as Network TV's Fastest-Growing Daytime Show
Three seasons in, the CBS show sees the most growth among a crop of rising morning series -- while the still dominant "View" posts year-to-year losses.
With so much attention placed on new syndicated talkers this fall, and the ABC debut of Katie Couric, there has been some interesting movement among network TV's returning daytime series.
Season-to-date, CBS' The Talk has seen the most growth among daytime network series -- almost all of which have posted some increases, with the exception of Days of Our Lives (NBC) and The View (ABC). The Talk is currently seeing an average viewership of 2.294 million this season, up 337,000 (17 percent) from the 1.957 million it was averaging this time last year.

The show's biggest competitor, The View, is the only network talker down since last year -- falling 349,000 (nine percent) to a still dominant 3.398 million viewers. The Price is Right and The Young and the Restless are still tops among network daytime viewership. Both are currently up from this time last season, averaging a respective 4.868 million and 4.667 million viewers.
The Talk is even with with a 0.7 rating among women 18-49 but is up 11 percent to a 1.0 rating with women 25-54. The View, down 19 percent in women 25-54 to a 1.3 rating, is also down nine percent to a 1.0 rating with women 18-49.
Elsewhere in talk, The Chew, ABC's sophomore lifestyles series, is right behind The Talk in its growth. Compared to same month last year, the culinary talker climbed 280,000 viewers -- from 1.977 million to 2.257 million.
