Taormina fest to run June 12-18
Festival has slimmed-down lineup of 21 filmsROME -- The 56th edition of the Taormina Film Festival will take place June 12-18, organizers said Wednesday, and it will again be the host of the Nastri d'Argento (Silver Ribbons) film awards, the day after the festival ends.
The festival, which is in the picturesque village in Sicily and its famous Greek theater, features a slimmed-down lineup of 21 films in three categories: Mediterranean, beyond the Mediterranean, and Sicilian short films.
The festival, which is often a launching point for big summer blockbusters, has not yet released its lineup.
The Nastri d'Argento awards, voted on by Italian film journalists, are Italy's oldest film honors.
The Taormina Film Festival is directed by Deborah Young, the Hollywood Reporter's chief international film critic.
