Taraji P. Henson's Makeup Artist Avoids Cookie's Beauty Looks on the Carpet

"I like to be Taraji. I have enough of Cookie."

The name Cookie has become practically synonymous with Taraji P. Henson, with her Empire character's memorable don't-give-a-damn one-liners, fab designer outfits and, of course, flawlessly bold makeup. The latter is perfected with the help of Henson's longtime makeup artist, Ashunta Sheriff. However, she says that they're much more "exploratory in her life than we are with Cookie."

"Cookie has a few lipstick color and one basic lash," says Sheriff, who stars on one of two covers with Henson for The Hollywood Reporter's 2015 Beauty Issue. "We have to keep it like that because she's a character and that works for her character."

And the Emmy-nominated star prefers to keep it that way.

"I try to stay as far away from Cookie as possible when I'm on the red carpet," says Henson. "I like to be Taraji. I have enough of Cookie."
